Listening to customers is an essential part of software development. At PDCflow, we’re lucky to have a listening expert on our team in Product Manager Kristen Makanoa.
She became part of the team in 2020 – but starting a new position during such a disruptive time didn’t slow her down. Kristen got right to work, listening to customer feedback and facilitating internal communication. Who is PDCflow? Meet Kristen Makanoa.
- How has PDCflow helped you in your career development?
I started my career as a designer and I have always loved creating impactful products that help people. I've spent many years learning from customers and team members. And looking back, I can attest to the fact that listening really has been the key to discovering successful solutions.
Working at PDCflow has offered more listening opportunities than ever before; I've been able to work alongside teammates in every department here at PDCflow and with stakeholders from businesses within every industry we serve.
Listening to these multiple points-of-view has helped me understand how we ought to guide our product's future in a way that's helpful to our stakeholders and to our team. This opportunity to apply observations, instinct, and creativity is an incredible development opportunity for me personally and it has been so rewarding.
- What has been your favorite experience at PDCflow?
Working with the incredibly talented team at PDCflow has undoubtedly been my favorite part of being here at PDCflow. I can honestly say this group of individuals work incredibly well together. Each internal team is focused on delivering convenient communications to our customers—in other words we're all focused on the big picture. Each of us cares an awful lot about making the PDCflow product experience better.
- What is on your wish list for the future with PDCflow?
I want to change the way our customers do "tech" for the better. I regularly set time aside to listen to customers. I hope this habit helps us build up our customer community so we're able to actively capture and prioritize user needs.
- What is your proudest moment at PDCflow?
Getting customer feedback always makes my day! I've had many proud moments when I've received feedback about how our product is making work and life easier for our customers and their customers. I love listening to all types of feedback, but I'll admit, my proudest moments are those when a customer has shared an exceptional product experience with me.
- What do you enjoy most about living along the Wasatch Front?
The easy access to trails and nature. I live within running distance of multiple single track trails and an incredible canyon. You can't beat the mountain access that living near the Wasatch Front offers.
- What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?
I love reading. I love getting outside and onto dirt trails, paddle boards, and skis.
